Dose regimens8
This calculator performs arithmetic only on the sourced dosing field shown for each result — it does not verify the field's accuracy, does not select which field to use for a patient, and does not replace a veterinarian's order. Not for clinical use. Confirm every result against the primary source before dispensing.

Horses: Altren® Solution 0.22% is contraindicated in pregnant mares and in mares having a previous history of uterine inflammation (i.e. a Grade II or greater uterine biopsy result), or current uterine inflammations (i.e. acute, subacute or chronic endometritis). Altren® Solution 0.22% therapy may exacerbate an existing uterine inflammation into a fulminating uterine inflammation. The safety of this drug in pregnant mares has not been established. Various synthetic progestins, including altrenogest, when administered to rats during the embryonic stage of pregnancy at doses many fold greater than the recommended equine dose caused foetal anomalies, specifically of the female genitalia. Swine: Altren® Solution 0.22% is contraindicated in gestating gilts or sows and is not to be administered to breeding boars since it could interfere with their fertility.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: ® Do not use Regu-Mate(altrenogest) in mares having a previous or current history of uterine inflammation (e.g., acute, subacute, or chronic endometritis). Natural or synthetic gestagen therapy may exacerbate existing low-grade or "smoldering" uterine inflammation into a fulminating uterine infection in some instances.

The 1-mL-per-110-lb arithmetic (0.044 mg/kg) × 15 days is the Regu-Mate mantra — dispensing is mL-based on a graduated dosing syringe.

The handler-safety story (gloves, pregnant-women-don't-touch) makes this the inverse of most veterinary drugs: the PATIENT risk is minimal, the HUMAN risk drives the warnings.
